Leaders inspire, motivate, and activate others’ “self-starting trait”, where they strive to do better in all aspects of their lives. Leaders possess several positive traits and an incredible “whatever it takes” attitude. True leaders though, have no ego, but rather an internal drive for success with others. They know that the lone wolf can’t survive or thrive alone…unless of course it’s in a movie.
“Vision Without Action is a Dream Soon Forgotten”. Leaders may have the vision, but the key word of the quote is “action”. It takes a team to achieve any high-level goal. Your number one priority should be to create a positive, cohesive team where everyone is equal and receives the same amount of credit. It’s not about who gets it right, but rather if it is done right. The mentality of a great “owner” is more like that of an alpha wolf in a pack, rather than an alpha lion. An alpha wolf does just as much work as any member of the pack does but shares its food because he knows they must all survive. The alpha male lion however, acts as if the lives of his herd are only for his own protection, so he does very little for others and always eats first before any others can join in. He only performs one function yet takes all the glory.
People must respect you and love you and want to do their best WITH you. Your fear of working for a leader will eventually create resentment, which will inevitably end the relationship. Leaders must know each team member and how to motivate them individually, as you’ll soon find out that just one method does not work for everyone.
